EST on a logo: what it means and how to write it
EST. on a logo says the business has a history. It is short for established and is followed by the founding year. A new business can use it too: EST. 2026 says when it started and that it plans to stay.
The year carries weight on its own. On a coffee bag, a jar label or a shop sign it reads as care and continuity, which is why so many small businesses put it on everything they make.
What to write
| EST. 2019 | the common form, with the full stop |
|---|---|
| ESTD 2019 | an older form, often on labels |
| SINCE 1998 | plainer, reads well in a sentence |
| EST. 2019 · TOWN NAME | when the place matters, as with coffee or beer |
| FOUNDED 1985 | more formal, for firms and schools |
| EST. 2026 | for a business that starts this year |
Where it goes
- Cups, bags, jars and labels.
- The shop sign and the front window.
- The website header and the social profile picture.
- Staff shirts and aprons.
- Business cards and invoices.
How to choose
- One form across everything. EST. on the cups and SINCE on the sign looks like two businesses.
- The year in full. 2019 reads better than '19 at small sizes.
- EST. and the year on either side of the name, or under it on an arc.
- Round for cups and stickers, a shield or a ribbon for signs.
- Use the real founding year.
How to use
- Type your name and year in the box, or start from one of the badges.
- Pick the shape: round for cups and stickers, shield for signs.
- Download the SVG for labels and print.
- Use the PNG with no background on the website and social profiles.
