Trust badges for Shopify: which to show and where
A buyer at the cart asks 3 things: will it arrive, can I send it back, is my card safe. A trust badge answers one of them next to the button.
Trust badges work when they repeat what your shop already promises, in the place the buyer hesitates. A row of three under Add to cart says more than ten scattered across the page.

Where it goes
- Under the Add to cart button on every product page.
- On the cart page, next to the checkout button.
- On the first product photo, for a single strong claim such as MADE IN USA.
- In order confirmation and shipping emails.
- In the footer, small, for the shop-wide promises.
How to choose
- 2 or 3 badges in a row.
- One colour that matches your theme, so they look like part of the shop.
- The same shape for all badges in a row.
- Short words over long ones: FREE RETURNS reads at a glance, a sentence does not.
- Show only the guarantees your shop gives.
How to use
- Pick 2 or 3 badges and change the words to your terms.
- Download the PNG files.
- In Shopify, upload them under Content, Files.
- In the theme editor, add an image or custom text block under the Add to cart button and choose the files.
- Use the same badges in order emails and on the cart page.
Questions
- What are trust badges?
- Small badges that state a shop's promises, such as free shipping, free returns or a money back guarantee, next to where people buy.
- Do I need an app for them?
- No. Upload the PNG files and place them with the theme editor.
- Can I show a guarantee I do not offer?
- No. Show only the guarantees your shop gives; a badge is a promise to the buyer.
